Our Story

Queer Nilayam is a queer-led, community-driven organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community. Founded in March 2021 in Hyderabad, it was built on the idea of creating a "home" (Nilayam) for queer individuals, offering safe, affirming spaces for connection, support, and growth.

Over the past four years, Queer Nilayam has organized 300+ events, 100+ support meetings, and 100+ corporate engagements, fostering sensitization and empowerment for queer entrepreneurs, activists, and grassroots trans communities. It has also led 50+ donation drives, provided financial assistance to 200+ individuals, and supported 70+ rescues, including a landmark legal battle for a lesbian couple.

Now registered as an MSME organization, Queer Nilayam sustains itself through community events while continuing its core mission of free peer-support spaces. Having reached 10,000+ queer individuals across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, Queer Nilayam relocated to Bangalore in January 2025, while keeping its heart rooted in Hyderabad, and continues working towards a more inclusive and supportive world.
